about me.
My name is Monique, and I’m thrilled you’ve found my website! I’m a registered Osteopath at OsteopathyOne in Pascoe Vale, Melbourne, where I’m passionate about understanding my patients' needs and working collaboratively with them to help them return to their daily activities, especially when pain is getting in the way.
My interest in osteopathy began with the injuries I sustained during my many years as a dancer. This, combined with my fascination with the human body and its complex functions, led me to pursue osteopathy. In addition to treating dance-related injuries, I have a special interest in paediatrics and women’s health. My commitment to expanding my knowledge across various areas reflects my dedication to caring for people at all stages of life. I have also completed further training and certifications in Myofascial Cupping and Dry Needling to enhance my osteopathic treatments.
Some of the conditions I particularly enjoy treating include:
Outside of the clinic, I work part-time as a dance teacher, where I share my love for movement as medicine with my students. In my free time, I enjoy a good cup of coffee, a great reformer Pilates class, and indulging my passion for the theatre.
what is
osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a holistic approach to healthcare that emphasizes the interconnection between the body's structure and function. In Australia, osteopaths complete a comprehensive five-year university education, which provides them with a deep understanding of the body, including areas such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, and diagnostic techniques.
Osteopathy is founded on three core principles established by its founder, Andrew Taylor Still:
Osteopathic treatments are tailored to the specific needs of each patient. By recognizing the body's natural capacity for self-healing, osteopaths, like Monique, work with patients to support their recovery. Treatment may target areas of pain while also considering the surrounding tissues and organs, ensuring the whole body is addressed. This holistic care can involve manual therapy, clinical exercises, and attention to movement patterns, behaviours, and lifestyle factors, all aimed at improving the body's biomechanics and overall well-being.
